Quilting Charges

  • Edge-to-edge designs: 2.5 cents per square inch.

Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .025 = $120.

  • Custom: 3.5 - 5 cents per square inch.

Custom quilting services begin with a personal consultation to understand your vision and project needs. Pricing is determined based on the unique design, size, and complexity of each quilt.

My minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or table runner's square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.

Batting

Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.

I use and stock my favorite Quilters Dream batting in the 80/20 cotton/poly blend, 100% cotton, and in the 100% poly. I can order other Quilters Dream products by request.

I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders.  I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per inch. For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 65" inches of the batting of your choice and multiply that by the price of the batting you selected.

• 100% cotton = $0.43/in

• 80/20 cotton/poly blend = $0.41/in

• 100% poly = $0.33/in

King sized quilts: I order batting in a precut package for this size and I can let you know the current price.

Thread

I stock Premo-soft (#50) thread. Premo-Soft is a strong, durable thread with a cotton like finish. I don't charge any extra fees for thread use, it's included in your square inch price. My personal style attempts to match or blend thread color with the lighter areas of your quilt. But this is YOUR quilt! Let me know if you have a preference on thread color.

Shipping

Shipping your top and backing to me: I live in Texas, USA, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I'd recommend sending your materials enclosed in some kind of sack or plastic bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.

Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $50 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but I don't require it.
